Responsible for systems analyst, detailed design and deployment of Retail Technology System’s Network server infrastructure: includes Active Directory, ISA Proxy, Citrix / Windows Terminal Server, SMS, Generic Windows Applications, Hitachi SAN’s, VMWare, Linux Servers, 3rd level support for Windows Based EPOS. The server and network infrastructure consists of a primary site in San Ramon and a disaster recovery site in Houston with over 10,000 service stations utilizing all types of server (Windows and Linux), network devices (Cisco) and 3rd party connections. Works with multiple customers within Marketing and outside of Marketing to complete tasks and achieve objectives. Responsible for following change management, IP compliance, 3rd level on-call support, and server design.This is a M-F job, however, there may be occasional after hours work that is needed including working some weekends. Percentage of travel – 0-5%. This position will require the person to be part of a 7×24 on-call rotation. It’s not overly burdensome but they do get some after hour calls. Key Job Responsibilities (essential position functions): . Work closely with business units to understand and anticipate changing server requirements.. Translate business requirements to technical requirements and implementation plans.. Manage server related software and hardware upgrades.. Strong knowledge and experience supporting the following technologies: Active Directory, ISA Proxy, Web (Internet/Intranet), database (SQL & Oracle), Linux, Generic Windows Server Applications, Security (firewalls, rights & permissions, encryption, etc.), Network (WAN/LAN architecture). Analyze problems, develop creative solutions & assess risks/benefits. Perform bottleneck analysis. Troubleshoot software failures & develop strategies for resolving them & preventing future occurrences.. Creating, modifying, designing and supporting scripts in one or more of the following languages: VBScript, ASP, WMI, Java Script, and ADSI. Automating system administration, AD implementation and application integration functions.. Communicate with Retail Systems Network Team in timely and effective manor ensuring team is consulted on design decisions, support documentation is created and in place and following change management procedures.. Ability to meet customer expectations and be flexible.. Can explain technical issues clearly to customers, help them understand the technology options, and provide training.. Strong grammar, punctuation, writing, and proofreading skills. Can write clear, concise documentation. Ability to express ideas effectively in writing and can make effective oral presentations.. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with internal and external third party technical support groups and sales representatives.. Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.. 3rd level support for our MS Windows based EPOS hardware and software implementations (Nucleus and Passport). Participate in EPOS Software Certification by verifying EPOS is compliant with the Retail Systems Network.. Must be willing to work off hour and weekends as needed and be part of rotating 24×7 on-call rotation. .
