R&D Technical AssistantWorcester area, MAOur client, a division of a large, successful manufacturing company that provides equipment to the paper and web converting industry, is hiring an R&D Technical Assistant (TA) to be responsible for a number of activities focused on doctor blade testing and new product development.
This is a multi-faceted position, requiring the TA to work independently on some projects and as a team member on others.
You will interact with and support Manufacturing, Purchasing and other departments during the transition of new products from R&D into production mode.
Additionally, you will work directly with vendors and participate in field installations and testing of prototype products at customer sites.
Responsibilities include: .
Preparing blade samples for various testing programs.
Planning, repairing and modifying equipment, including developing preventive maintenance schedules as needed.
Coordinating work with the in-house shop and outside machine shops/vendors.
Ordering materials; fabricating and machining prototype components.
Assembling prototype equipment, running experiments and completing product testing on a regular basis with minimal supervision.
Collecting, collating, and tabulating data and analysis.
Presenting these results to audiences within the company and to customer.
Requirements include: .
Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
3-5 years experience or recent grad with relevant work experience.
Must have complete command of spoken and written English language.
CAD skills, preferably SolidWorks.
MS Office knowledge a must.
Proven ability to specify, set-up and use instrumentation to collect data.
Proven ability to understand, analyze and present data in a concise, meaningful manner.
Demonstrated basic workshop skills such as machining and mechanical assembly.
Demonstrated aptitude to learn new tasks and skills quickly, and flexibility when assigned new projects.
Motivated, self-starter with demonstrated capability for independent judgment.
Organized and meticulous in managing projects from start to completion.
Maintain clean workspace and observe safe practices and company policies.
