We are currently recruiting for a qualified, interested and available Quality Assurance Engineer.
JOB SUMMARY: To assist the Supply Chain and Contract Manufacturing Organizations in assuring quality products are produced at contract manufacturing locations.
Also responsible for maintaining day-to-day activities regarding contract manufacturing performance for all of CommScope in the NAR and CALA regions.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Generates reports that summarize all supplier activities and performance on a regular basis.
Ensures that product quality is attained within all facilities producing similar or identical products through fulfillment of consistent workmanship standards and quality-program requirements.
Identifies and reports quality problems or trends in the assigned area or product based on data from a variety of sources.
This includes but is not limited to end user customer complaints.
Recommends or implements the appropriate corrective action to quality problems in the assigned area, with the aid of engineering, purchasing, etc. Also ensures that the corrective action is implemented among all contract manufacturers with identical or similar products.
Evaluates potential contract manufacturers on their quality systems and makes recommendations on their ability to perform to CommScope standards and expectations.
Assist the operations, engineering and procurement team in suggesting and implementing contract manufacturing cost reductions.
Reviews all documentation related to product quality in the assigned area, such as test procedures and operation sheets and approves as appropriate to ensure product quality.
Generates or implements defect-reduction activities.
Reviews and approves (with assistance from Operations and Engineering) any process documentation (quality plans, procedures, FMEAs, control plans, standard work instructions, etc.) Ensures that all critical characteristics are identified on these forms.
Defines, develops and determines whether the incoming inspection is required on CommScope dictated vendors and their incoming product.
Creates (with the assistance of the contract manufacturer), any incoming inspection work instructions.
Evaluates nonconforming material and initiates contract manufacturer containment and corrective actions.
Documents quality issues and trends/establishes prioritized improvement plans.
Notifies management of nonconforming product.
Monitors and removes contract manufacturer from containment.
Responsible for creating/approving (along with Engineering) any boundary samples (paint, go/no go gages, etc.) Ensures that process, material, equipment or engineering changes meet customer requirements.
Responsible for selecting appropriate process controls, defining requirements for data collection, analysis and corrective action.
Must be able to evaluate and verify color.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Engineering Degree in a relevant field (5) plus years working experience as a Quality Engineer, or equivalent Knowledge of ISO standards and a minimum of 2 years audit experience are required Knowledge of TL9000 is not required but a plusLANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak read and write Spanish or Mandarin preferred.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and general publicREASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusionsOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be familiar computer and the related programs ie Word, Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio.
