Develops in vivo models of viral and bacterial infection.
? Develops and performs immunoassays for assessment of antibody and cellular responses to vaccines: ELISA, ELISPOT, PRNT, ADCC, neutralization assays, cell proliferation, cytoxicity assays and cytokine production.
? Uses a variety of microbiological techniques to investigate the virulence and pathogenicity of infectious agents, both viral and bacterial.
? Uses tissue culture techniques, cell sorting, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy and multiplex luminometry analysis to investigate host-parasite interactions and the immune mechanisms of protection induced by vaccines.
? Conducts research in support of multiple vaccine development programs.
Uses highly developed organizational skills to prioritize work load and achieve objectives for various projects within allocated timelines and budgetary limits.
? Designs and performs experimental procedures to a consistently high standard.
? Develops new methodologies, writes standard protocols and SOPs.
? Ensures the accurate entry and maintenance of experimental data in notebooks and computer files, in compliance with established procedures.

Uses a variety of scientific software packages to prepare data for written and verbal presentation to line manager and project team.

He/She must have expert knowledge of scientific concepts and practice in the areas of Immunology and Microbiology; be highly skilful in developing in vivo models of infectious disease and performing in vivo experimental procedures and have expert practical knowledge of a range of antibody- and cell-based immunoassays aimed at evaluating the immunogenicity of vaccines.
An independent, creative and skillful scientist with highly developed analytical skills and first-rate organizational skills is desired.
Precise and careful approach to documentation procedures and good presentation skills are a plus.
