In support of the sales team, the ideal candidate will conduct customer demonstrations for the full range of Caliper products, primarily microfluidics.

In support of the marketing team, the Application Scientist will generate analytical data for use in marketing material, technical briefs, etc. This position will also support the Caliper customer base and work with our customer support organization to provide application assistance.

In addition, will also design and execute experiments in support of the marketing plan and document all experiments and analytical results consistent with good lab practices.

Primarily US-based and infrequently foreign, travel required (~30%)Experience/Skill Requirement: * BS in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or related area.

MS or PHD preferred.

* Individual must have expertise in molecular biology, drug discovery or genomics including assay design, development and troubleshooting.

* Additional background in biology, chemistry or related discipline.

* This is a customer-focused position, so excellent people skills are also required.

* Minimum of 5 years experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology or technology supplier required.

* Experience with Caliper’s microfluidic systems a plus.

* Some familiarity with laboratory robotics is also a desirable.
