PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: The Lead Software Engineer will lead a small development team to design, develop, implement and manage data load and monitoring processes and their interfaces for enterprise-level applications and data warehouses.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with both business partners to gather, analyze business requirements and translate them into technical tasksWork with the Data Architect to design and develop physical data models, enterprise application data stores, data warehouses and their interfacesWork effectively with Data Architect and the team to establish sound ETL architect and develop best practices in ETL developmentWork with software engineers to map business process models to data models, and create Object/Relational models to support serialization to the database.
Identify & address application data issues that affect application integrityCommunicate, educate and ensure adherence to sound data management principles and where possible, the re-use of data as well creating and managing meta-data and business rules for the use of dataOwns project development estimates and timelinesEnsure that the database design fulfills functional & technical requirements, including design-for-performanceReview the deliverables throughout development to ensure quality to requirements and adherence to all quality management plans & standardsDevelop and support ETL processes for data load with alert and monitoringPrioritize and resolve production support issues to existing data load processes, cron jobs and web applications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field10+ years of industry experience5+ years of hands on experience with: Developing, modeling, and deploying commercial grade relational (OLTP) and dimensional (Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse) database solutions.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in ETL design and development capacityMinimum 3 years of experience in SQL tuning and optimizing a physical data model for performance of analytical and reporting applicationsExpert in SQL and PL/SQL programmingMinimum 2+ years of experiences build applications using JavaIn depth understanding of data cleansing, data auditing, data profiling, data modeling, entity-relationship modeling and dimensions modelingAbility to rationalize benefits and reasons for using dimensional and 3NF data architecturesExperienced with reporting tools such as Business Objects XI R2/Crystal ReportsExperienced with the analysis of business processes, workflow, data mapping and cross-data integration in complex data warehouse environments.
Ability to abstract general principles from specificsSignificant experience with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC); some programming experience outside of the database is a plus.
