PC Desktop Technician â NIH/NHGRI Digicon Corporation, established in 1985, is a full-service Information Technology Integrator and Solutions Provider to both government and commercial customers. Digicon employs approximately 300 employees throughout the Washington metropolitan area, as well as several other major cities across the nation. We are currently in search for a PC Desktop Technician to work at the NIH Campus & off-Campus locations within the Bethesda & Rockville, MD area. This is a full-time employee position with Digicon Corporation.Position Description:Serve as initial POC for Tier 1&2 helpdesk support responsible for troubleshooting PC hardware and software, peripherals, and networking problems. The technician will provide general user support that includes troubleshooting individual machine problems including, but not limited to, memory, hard disk and power supply failures, loss of connection to the network, printing problems, software problems, email, file folder access and permissions. User support will also cover setting up and configuring individual computers and laptops to meet NIH security requirements such as encryption, anti-virus, and security patches. Support is also required for accessing the NIH wireless and wired network, as well as for Internet access both within and outside the NIH Campus. Some assistance will also be provided to users in the operation of common office applications such as word processing, email, Internet browsers, spreadsheets and printing, as well as NHGRI and NIH site licensed software. The candidate will also assist the ISSO by responding to security and virus alerts from the NIH Incident Response Team (IRT) and periodic Gideon/Nessus scans. The candidate will also be responsible for hardware/software recommendations when requested by the users. Position Requirements:Candidates must be oriented toward customer service and thoroughly trained and experienced in supporting desktops and laptops running Windows 7/XP/Vista, including hardware and software installation, mobile device support, infrastructure connectivity, system/application configuration, and troubleshooting. Must be familiar with MS Office suite, security software, Internet browsers, and must have experience in installing, upgrading, and removing hardware and software. The candidate must have a minimum of 3 years desktop support experience. A working knowledge of Windows servers and a moderate level of skills in network and security software is required. MCSA required; MCSE desirable. All candidates must be authorized to work in the US for any employer and able to pass a background check. No relocation assistance is available. EOE M/F/D/V.
